New face of the Defender

DEFENDING THE OUTDOOR FAITHFUL
The Land Rover Defender Game Viewer is on a roll, each month giving thousands of gamers a grandstand view of Africa’s gorgeous bush.
It has become the vehicle of choice for upmarket lodges and reserves across southern Africa, the combination of its comfortable ride and refinement coupled to an affordable ownership proposition making it a hit in the wild - with guests and lodge owners respectively. Equipped with a clean-burning, latest-generation 2,2-litre turbodiesel rated at 90kW and 360Nm, it is more than capable of holding its own without disturbing the peace or fouling the environment.
Based on the ubiquitous Defender 110 pick-up platform, vehicles come off the Solihull, United Kingdom, line prepared for Game Viewer duty and undergo the full conversion locally after which they are ready to go into action as either nine- or 11-seater game viewers. Fundamental changes which take place in the overseas plant as part of the process include fitment of Heavy Duty rear suspension and deletion of features such as air conditioning and traction control. The fitment of the stadium seating and sturdy canopy is done in South Africa by a specialist bodybuilder while a wide array of optional extras enable owners to tailor it to their needs.
Game Viewer has successfully passed a South African Bureau of Standards rollover test, and has also been designed – despite the fact that most will never be driven on public roads – to meet all homologation requirements. This includes braking, suspension load, and seatbelt ‘pull’ test. All occupants enjoy the safety and convenience of a retractable lap belt.
A host of clever features fine-tune Game Viewer to its specialized role, one of which is a bullbar which hinges into a vertical position to become a serving platform. A modern touch is the provision of 12 Volt power points so that electronic equipment can be recharged on the move. Life in the great outdoors has never been so civilized.
On-site servicing by Land Rover field technicians minimises downtime, while the standard 3-yr/100 000 km Land Rover warranty applies.
